Rankings

After a few months of inactivity, The Rankings have returned for the month of August. The Top 25 Prospects and Top 40 Goaltenders have been updated. The Top 50 Defensemen and Top 100 are also good to go.

Top 25 Prospects (August)
The list has now been reset to reflect the top prospects heading into the 2010-11 regular season, and it shouldn't come as a surprise at all to most, that Taylor Hall of the Edmonton Oilers is #1, while Tyler Seguin of the Boston Bruins is sitting at #2.

Top 40 Goaltenders (August)
After a stellar performance in 2009-10, which was capped off with the Vezina trophy, Ryan Miller stays atop the list to being this season. A lot of changes elsewhere, as a few youngsters have entered the charts.

Top 50 Defensemen (August)
Mike Green is still the top dog heading into the season and there wasn't any changes behind him, as Drew Doughty and Duncan Keith still sit second and third respectively.

Top 100 (August)
As expected, Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby occupy the top two spots, but after that there is a bit of a surprise: Evgeni Malkin is not third. Instead, it is Nicklas Backstrom, who bumps up a spot.

FHW 2010-11 Fantasy Hockey Draft Guide Updated The guide has now been updated to include some of the more recent signings that have taken place in the last week (Torres, Mitchell, Jones, MacArthur are all in there).

Also, some tidbits regarding the recoveries of such players as Jordan Staal, Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Alex Burrows, and Daymond Langkow have also been provided.

There still hasn't been any word on the Ilya Kovalchuk contract in terms of an acceptance or a rejection. Considering the way this whole saga has unfolded the last two months, should any of us really be surprised that we don't have an answer?

Expect some more signings to trickle through in the next week or so, as teams get ready to get underway at training camp, and some players will be making decisions regarding their new homes.

Also, we still haven't seen some prominent RFA's get locked up yet either. Bobby Ryan, Peter Mueller, and James Neal are all still waiting on new deals.

The Oilers were able to lock up Gagner, leaving just Andrew Cogliano as the lone player left to sign on the dotted line. Expect him to get locked up pretty soon as well.
